I have a Suburban gas/electric water heater in my motorhome.
I have just noticed there is some soot on the outside vent of the water heater.
What might be causing this and how can I fix it.
With thanks,
Beejay

Sounds like the gas/air ratio is wrong on the burner. When going it should have a clear blue flame with only a trace of yellow. Only a 2 minute job to adjust but legally you should probably get a qualified gas person to do it.

Yes get a qualified person to service it and just sounds like a build of dust/dirt or cobwebs that needs cleaning out of the flue system and burner/jets etc
The once all cleaned out all the settings checked and normally should be all go again

Surely you can legally open it and just blast out the dust/cobwebs with a can of air or air pressure hose and see if that sorts it directly?

If needing setting, THEN get the gas man in?

I did hear of using compressed air blast up the exhaust pipe and open the outside access door and give the interior a blow out ???
