I have been reading the draft regulations which I found in a post, to see if there is any regulations of types of material that a lpg locker should be made of, and cannot find anything?
We were thinking making it out of marine ply and painting this, or is this not in the regulations? This will be put outside of the truck.

There is nothing in the regulations specifying gas locker building materials, make sure the ventilation requirements are met.

I would strongly advise you to go for the standard 9kg cylinders. It can be surprisingly difficult sometimes to find somewhere that fills bottles while you wait but 9kg "bottle swap" stations are very common.

Watch that you don't make the locker's physical dimensions too tight - there is quite a range of bottle sizes even though they may be of the same nominal capacity. This is especially important if you intend to "swap" cylinders, rather than have your own refilled.

9kg cylinders can range in height from 450mm to 525mm, with diameters of 309m to 335mm and you will need to be able to accommodate the largest bottles if you intend to use the swap services that are available.

Hi Cowgirl,
Just make sure that they are good and strong, you need to consider restraint of the bottles in all conceivable situations including being impacted.
Back in Auckland on Friday if any help.

cheers
John.

Just been talking to someone up here at Simpsons beach who is having a civilian fitted out at present and discussion came to gas lockers, they have been told timber/ply lockers are illegal so a metal composite locker has been made, can't find a reference to this in any previous posts, can anyone she'd some light please. I will have to have a read of the standard but my first reaction is that they have been fed a line of cobblers.
