Dene I tried that last year as I was there early and yes no one new about the arrangement you had made with the organisers.
I tried to hold an area for us but it got to much and could not hold my ground :-T  .
I agree something needs to be in concrete to avoid it happening this year as I missed you all last year which I was disappointed about but had a great time with others we met there, so not all bad. I must say I am looking forward to the show again this year and meeting up with you all.

I think the trick could be to ask to get into that overflow paddock through the gate we ended up on last year, and there will not be the same site pressure as in the parking area close to the entrance - gives more time before it starts to fill.

Possibly a portable electric fence of minimum 110,000 volts may help, although that may not put a good light on the Forum (although it may light a few other things up) :D .

Other options to hold space include those in first parking with sufficient gap to fit another van in between, but such that it is a bit cosy for most - and caravanners could park their cars in parking spots to hold them for others. If Derb is coming, you could simply put them in the centre with a big "Beware of the Dog" sign, and that should keep the area clear.

Of course, the easy way would be for the organisers to just do as they promised, and the numbers will be a bit uncertain given that many will make a choice between Campercare and Covi.

Dene & Warwick, thank you for those suggestions. I had already planned to arrive the day before and peg out an area using electric fence tape (not electrified though). The area that most of us parked in last year seemed to be OK, so if anyone thinks otherwise please speak up.

The parking arrangements fall under the wing of the Mystery Creek staff, so I shall be visiting the grounds supervisor soon to get things sorted. Rather than rely on others too much I think it would be best to have our own parking wardens and look after own patch. We will start it off ourselves but will welcome any volunteers to help throughout the show weekend.

Any suggestions for a Friday or Saturday evening function, or would you prefer to support the official show entertainment?

We would like to go again this year. It was our 1yr anniversary of owning our camper yesterday (one of the best purchases/decisions we have ever made!) so as newbies we got alot out of the show and hope to again this year.
