I was very lucky when I arrived in NZ, in Rotorua, 22 years ago. I got taken under the wings of a kaumatua, Koro Hiko Hohepa, and he said that he will teach me before I got corrupted. So, I have never learned to mispronounce. I’ll now revisiting te Reo after losing fluency, living in the SI. Great initiative above! kapai

Philip ,corrupted ? probably not the best word ,but each to there own .I think that it one of the greatest tragedies in NZ that there is this great `them and us` dIvide.

Just advised recently that in the Native language there is a 'Short a' and a 'Long a', my native language was taught to me in the 1950's and I ain't changing for anyone..... 8-)
