Sand sand... My kingdom for more sand...
Nice little story there.. We went up there to go out the spit but the weather was so bad we went inland... Then had to make a run for it at 2 am in the morning.. Back to tar seal before we were marooned in the out backs..
Retired & just Cruzing in "Growly Bear" that has everything we need..

Tides and weather prevented our land based visit to Farewell Spit, so we took the easy option and did it by air with Golden Bay Air. A superb 1 hour flight that took us from Takaka to Karamea, back up the West Coast, along the spit and then across to Separation Point and back to the aerodrome. Stunning flight with a good commentary from the pilot.

This was our holiday place. As kids we went and stayed with lighthouse keeper and family one holiday, they came to us next. Have been again in last few years - still amazing. From ex 2nd world war Fords and Dodges, to Bedfords and now Mercs, transport 4 w d history.
