Palmerston North Park Over

Postby Nut17 » Mon Oct 19, 2015 7:59 am

Has anyone got any ideas about a suitable place for a couple of nights in or near Palmerston North - Next Monday - Tuesday? Palmerston North seems to have a total vacuum when it comes to any sort of low cost camping.

We have stayed at the Ashurst Domain motorcamp a few times. 14km from Palmerston.

From memory about $7.50pp.

We usually head to the FC at Feilding beside the river. Campbell Street. Toilets. Space galore.

Another good place to park is at the Coach House mueum in Feilding, a designated POP #4709 in the TD.
Although listed as a POP it is expected that you would pay admission to the museum.
There is water available, parking on hard standing and a very good dump station close by.

As Scubadoo suggests, on the river bank at Timona park is very nice as well, # 4703 in the TD.

Palmerston North is pretty starved for parking out side the Holiday Park. The CAP # 4728 in PN won't be suitable for your rig due size considerations.
Cheers
John.

You are NOT expected to pay admission to the museum
They do ask that you pay a donation for your stay

Perhaps expected was too strong a word, appreciated may have been better, in the same manner that you would possibly use the bar and restaurant areas if staying at a club or RSA.

If you didn't have the time or inclination to visit the museum then by all means a donation would be gratefully accepted.
Cheers

Thanks for all the replies. The power of this forum :TU It has highlighted the issue of few options being available in PN. Will check out a few options via Google Earth, but at this stage Ashurst Domain is looking good.
