This post is of particular interest to me as I have just sold my Mitsubishi Rosa 6 meter weighing 4.7 ton. I was getting 10.3 l/100k towing my Mack 420 which is about 750kg ( one tank from New Plymouth to Whangarei ). now I am interested in buying a 8 meter bus, interesting to see the RUC and extra fuel that I'm in for.

Paul50 note that the RUC on the 8m bus will be charged on the GVM not the on road weight. Regards.

Have just done a trip from Turangi to Taihape across the Napier Taihape road then the Napier Taupo a lot of very steep towing a Jayco Outback weighing in at around 2900Kg at least.
Towing it with a BT50 Mazda 2013 fuel consumption 13.14 ltr / 100 or 7.7 km per ltr.

8m Hino bus, 1985 model with HO7C ( 177Hp) through a 5 speed gearbox on 18" tyres will do between 4.2 and 5 Kms per litre.
The difference comes from A framing the Suzuki and the style of driving,

Used to run with 8ton RUC! new regs see me running 12 ton sticker, GVM is 11200Kg.
Cheers

Our 1996 Mitsubishi Canter 4 berth 5.8 meters including the large box on the rear, 3130 Tare weight, Is very good I thought.

Seems cheaper on fuel than our cars.

With a trip over the Kaimai's included ( 5 O clock traffic so very tame trip ) our last trip away we did 539 km & when I got home I filled it at the same pump I did before I went away so same angle, No more or less fuel added & it took 65.3 L to fill so 8.25 L per 100 km

Try running some Diesel Injector cleaner through it & see if that helps.

The 1st 3 times I filled ours up after buying it I put injector cleaner in the tank, A good clean spray from the injector can make a big difference to how the fuel burns & how the power & fuel efficiency comes out.
