Still on the Canter theme - My 4WD work Canter has a tare of around 3600kg and has the non turbo 4D35 4,6lt motor uses close to 20lt/100km on the Napier- Gisborne road and with the caravan on the back that bursts out to about 30l / 100km on the same road. It is working really hard though with most of the big hills at 24kph in 2nd gear. I tend not to do the sums any more. Too depressing - just get the job done and pay the bills :? :)

actually my calcs are wrong
its approx 8.25km per litre of diesel, NOT 8.25l per 100km.
So its more like 12.2l of fuel per 100km.

Seems cheaper on fuel than our cars.

With a trip over the Kaimai's included ( 5 O clock traffic so very tame trip ) our last trip away we did 539 km & when I got home I filled it at the same pump I did before I went away so same angle, No more or less fuel added & it took 65.3 L to fill so 8.25 L per 100 km

Murray

Sorry to disappoint you Murray. My calculations tell me that if you divide total kms (539) by total litres used (65.3), the answer is in number of kms to the litre (8.25kms) which equates to 12.11 L per 100 km. (i.e. 65.3L divided by 5.39 hundred kms) = 12.11 L).

Many people get confused with this.

My sincere apologies Murray. I missed that. Just shows one needs to read the whole thread, which in my haste, I didn't. Thanks for pointing that out Mark.
