chemical toilets

Postby johninge » Sun Oct 04, 2015 8:37 pm

Hi. Just tidied up a 67 Munroe Pixie and now doing Self Containment. Think I have the water sorted, but such rules as I have found are very unclear about what constitutes a chemical toilet.
Is a Porta-Pottie type toilet an equivalent to a so-called cassette toilet? All Porta Potties are not created equal: there are single/double chambers, flush or none, one piece or two piece. Is there some specification for what constitutes an acceptable chemical toilet.? My local camping shop sells a fine 20L bucket with a snap fit lid and built in toilet seat; it's therefore a sealable single-chamber non-flushing chemical toilet, and would suit us in terms of cost and simplicity of storage. Am I going to get certification with such a thing?
cheers, John

The quick answer to the 20 L bucket is NO.
Get yourself a Porta Potti.
