We have noticed recently that when travelling with a cassette that is more than half full that there is a definite smell from outside our vehicle, which means we can’t travel with windows open until we have “dumped”. There is no smell in the toilet or Motorhome, and we have recently changed our SOG filter. No smell in the cassette locker. Is there something else we should be looking at. :

A spoonful (or 2) of Sod. percarbonate (such as "Napisan" or similar) should help with smell control.

You're not overdoing the curries are you?

We use either of the products shown below. Both usually around $4.00 from Countdown (Boost) and Pack and Save / New Word (Pams) About half a cap full each morning immediately prior to morning ablution ! We do have a SOG ventilator as well.

Have you considered that it may be coming from the breather on your grey tank and not your toilet cassette. Had exactly the same problem, changed seals, cleaned it thoroughly several times with no change. Then gave my grey tank a good clean with half a dozen bottles of Countdown Homebrand cola (often suggested on UK sites), rinsed it out and smell gone.

We treat our grey tank with Sodium Percarbonate on a daily basis as well. Helps keep the inside of the tank nice and clean as well.

Yes the smell was there before we changed the SOG filter. We use Boost in our casssette, so no chemicals.

Hi.
My guess would also be from your waste water tank as well. Where is the vent on your waste tank? In a lot of motorhomes it is up high just behind the driver's door. Can't really see how you could get any smell coming from your cassette as it is sealed and with a SOG it is vented through the carbon filter.

Cheers
