We must be lucky. About 14 years ago we bought a cheap 150W MSW inverter to charge up our netbook using the vehicle cigar lighter socket while travelling. Everything we plugged into it worked fine and we have had no trouble with computer gear, mobile phones or anything else. We still use it occasionally in the car.

Modern electric motors don't seem to like modified sine wave. I remember the mechanical milk frother/heater we used to have for our Nespresso machine would not run from a modified sine wave inverter - Just a loud ominous hum :? Best get a PSW one with a big enough capacity for the coffee grinder and go from there. ;)

Also electric toothbrush chargers don’t like modified sine wave, I found out the hard way. But we now use a USB toothbrush charger from Aliexpress.

The MSW inverter (that I used to have) ran our 24v Smart charger just fine.
But then I noticed that the charger was becoming very, very hot. This did not happen with the replacement PSW inverter.
