Fuse size for gas detector

I have just had a gas alarm installed (Carbest). It runs directly from the house battery. The installer has not put a fuse on this. Should I put one on the live line?

It is 12v, standby consumption 100mA, alarm consumption 180mA.

What size fuse should I put in (if any)?

Thanks

Hi. A fuse in this situation is to protect the the wiring from shorting the battery if a fault occurs so IMHA , a 1 amp fuse should be used . Paul
