Thought this might interest some this Midea fridge is not only cheaper than the Samsung SR254MW (at $499) but has more space inside with very slightly lower energy consumption (according to the label anyway)

http://www.stoneappliance.co.nz/index.p ... uct_id=170

Here is a copy paste of the specs
• Gross capacity: 274L (R:206, F: 68)
• Frost free
• Electronic control
• Dairy compartment
• Chilling compartment
• Crisper with humidity
• Adjustable legs
• Reversible door
• Recessed handle
• LED interior lighting
• 4 stars energy rating (257kwh per year)
• Product dimension (WxDxH)(mm): 545x623x1657
• Warranty: 24 months

Can't find too much more than that I am unsure of the refrigerant and what type of compressor it has but on paper looks like a winner.

Hmm... one of the key factors making the Samsung so good is it’s ultra slow startup using the 5 stage “inverter technology” which means the 240v can be supplied by a really small inverter (300W) so has a very low standby ([email protected] for me = [email protected]) so if it can do that too... THEN it’s a good alternative at a GREAT price!

I couldn't find any reviews of that particular model, but opinions on their 253 litre version are in remarkable agreement.

A bit like pure sine wave inverters. The "pure" will always be on a label somewhere to differentiate it from the rest of the pack.
Unless I missed it I do not see "digital inverter" mentioned anywhere.

Midea is a huge Chinese company making stuff for the household like Hiar(unsure of spelling)?. They make for other labels as well. .Like anything that's cheap they use only average graded gear and the reviews I've read give them an average star rating of 3.5 out of 5.. So 70%.. Samsung gets over 4 stars 🌟 It's like the Diesel heater pricing.. Depends on what you are buying.. Maybe the fridge is good but would it handle the bumpy roads we have, and I'm not just talking off-road. :o

Neddy's link to the reviews on the brand would convince me to stick with the tried and proven Samsung. Still a very cost effective option (If it will fit!!) Alas, not a practical option with our new van.
