Have been reading an article on the above heater. Seems to be an alternative to the water storage tank types - 'Suburban' but is approx 1/2 the size of Suburban as does not have a storage tank. Basically, as I see it, it is a califont type heater and is installed as is a 'Suburban' - flush-fitting external cover incorporating exhaust vent.
There is one for sale on Trademe, #927499967. $695.
Seems to be LPG only, but does have an inside temp. control dial. Pricing seems good too. Any one got one of these?

Anything cheap comes at a cost !
If they are good most manufactures would be using them.

Hi joncar,

The product is manufactured in China by an American Company. I understand that its reliability is actually okay, but the issue is that it takes some understanding of how to use it. If you want to increase the temperature of your water - you have to turn the flow DOWN, not up as would be the natural inclination. Certainly a number of US manufacturers do now fit the product as standard - but one local manufacturer tried it out last year, but has since reverted to the Suburban heater instead. If you want the best value for your bucks - the Suburban is the way to go. Its been in use in NZ since 1994, meets all of the relevant local gas regulations and is reliable (if a little noisy)!
