This disaster could well be an extinction level event. Apart from the oil polluting and poisoning the ocean, and ocean currents carrying it further abroad, BP is also pumping Corexit dispersant into the leak. This dispersant is highly toxic, to animal life, plant life, and humans. The dispersant can also evaporate from the oceans into clouds and fall as rain on land, to cause even more devastation. Already there are signs of crop failures in America due to some mysterious reason, which will probably turn out to be Corexit once the scientists do their tests.
Others have demonstrated how straw forms a simple and effective and non-toxic means of mopping up the oil out of the water, but the powers that be have refused to make use of this harmless method. It's almost like they WANT this to be a major disaster that kills millions of people and animals. (Oh that's right, the wealthy elite are known to have plans to reduce the world population down to 0.5 billion.)

, check it out, it's updated daily and has much more info than what the mainstream media will tell you.
Earlier, someone posted an article advocating the use of a nuclear weapon to deal with the well. I think this would be a big mistake. There is a huge methane 'bubble' underground there, with a huge amount of pressure in it. Putting a nuke down there would just increase the pressure and stress on the seafloor crust and blow it wide open. It's like a pimple that pops when pressure is applied, except trillion times worse. As you'll see from other links on the rense.com
website, this oil is also radio active because it came from very deep down, and a nuke would just add to the radio active pollution even more.
Incidentally, the people of the western world have been led to believe that oil is a finite resource, made from ancient forests that were buried and turned to oil underground, hence the whole "peak oil" concept. But it has been known within the oil industry that oil forms from mineral processes, and these processes still occur today. Wells that had virtually dried up have been known to suddenly experience a resurgence in their oil production, having been replenished from sources further down in the earth's crust. Of course, the oil industry would prefer to keep this quiet, so they can charge more for their "limited" resource. Read about that here.
