We're heading away (supposedly) in 12 days time but have not yet managed to get our califont working properly. Have had some hot water out of it but not reliably.
Does anyone else out there have an old Calypso califont? Sorry I don't have the model number with me but it has two knobs on the front - gas input and water temperature. Where should they be set for a test run? Would it help if I posted a photo or should I just take it to a gasfitter and see whether they can help?

Kate, maybe be a bit more specific about the symptoms. Bit of a woolly target at this point :?

We have a BURNSCO Califont and had trouble. I took the front off and increased the water flow valve by turning the screw, this solved the problem of little or no hot water. Have a look at your water flow screw - should be by the gas flow valve sensor. good luck. Peter

we have had our bus for 5 years and have never had real hot water out of ours.
luke warm. last weekend it took a while to light when the hot tap was turned on.

so I know how frustrating it can be as there should be hot water to do dishes but still have to boil the kettle.

we also have turned dials up and have good water pressure so an interesting topic.

I used to install gas califonts when working for CI Munro. To get better temperature from them you need to reduce the water flow and increase the flame. We used to install Junkers brand which were reasonably good but expensive, the calypso was never very efficient but way cheaper back then which is why Munro's changed.

hi there,i'm a newbie.
have come into possession of an old bedford housetruck & having trouble with the gas califont
it is a 1976 junkers W125 V4/32S2400T serial#621.
it has no electric start,i found a couple of dead matches in there so the pilot has been hand lit.
i'm not getting gas at the jet,so i removed the jet & it's holder & still no gas.
has anyone had this problem or able to point me at where i should look?
i am prepared to put some time into it,but not too much.
