For several years we have used the Wellington Water Ski Club Car park at the Hutt Road end of The Petone Foreshore as a very convenient overnight stop prior to catching the morning ferry sailing to Picton. Very disappointed to be faced with very clear signage banning any form of overnight camping when we called in at around midday today. Damned Shame   We did intend to wander up to Bunnings and the supermarket, opted to head directly up The Ngauranga Gorge to The NZMCA Park at Plimmerton before it became too congested.

You could have stayed at the Petone Workingmens Club. That's cheap enough and not much different in distance.

We have stayed there before Robin and due to some inconsiderate late night parking we almost missed our ferry - Had to hammer on the door of a bus at 6.30 am to get them to move. Unpleasant altercation followed and I was verbally given a very impolite new pedigree :o So I have sort of been put off ever since :(

That is a shame. Never experience that sort of behaviour. Quite understand once bitten twice shy.
