Hi Neddy,

I’ve just come across this post and it looks to be exactly what I need to charge my 24v starter batteries from my 12v solar array. I tried the link for the diodes earlier in this post but the link does not find them.

Could you please advise suitable diodes again please.

Many thanks
Mark

The system as described doesn't utilise the output of the existing solar controller, Des.
Instead it takes some of the solar power directly from the panels and steps that up (or down) to output the +/- 27.4 volts needed to hold the 24v Starter batteries at their Float voltage.
It makes no difference at all whether the solar controller is a PWM or MPPT type.

My DC step up onverter board (as recommended in this post) arrived from AliExpress and I tried it out today but with 13 volts DC on the input there are zero volts at the output and the little red fault LED on the board is lit. I have tried adjusting all the three pots onboard but no change. I guess I got a dud. Any ideas or should I try ordering another. Cheers Mark.
