I mentioned this elsewhere, perhaps I should start a new thread.

Has anyone investigated or brought in any LifePO4 batteries from AliExpress.
If my memory is anygood!! maybe not, I think I saw a 300 amphour battery for around $1700.00 and $150.00 shipping.

Hi Robin

If you go back to the beginning of this thread you will find reference to the research I did regarding a private import from China. The end result is that you can possibly land some cells here and save some cash, but the unknown NZ port handling fees and the risks in purchasing from an unknown manufacturer made the whole process very marginal at the end. I had twelve quotes from suppliers through Alibaba, all very similar but in the end I considered the level risk outweighed the potential savings.

In case you missed a post I made on another thread - 277Ah LFP's re-sold by a local EV company, Blue Cars:

277Ah@$564 per cell, so $2,256 for 12V

Add local shipping cost or pickup if available.

That's a pretty good price. I would assume the EV company has done some investigation/testing on them - worth a call?

Trademe at the moment, but not for long:

Winston

Shame about the single 300Ah. $300 when I posted this but I'm sure it will climb - ~ 4 hrs to go.

Even if they go to around $1500 they would be a bargain. Around $5k new and these could potentially be as good as new. They would also split into two very useful 200 AH units each of which would easily replace a 300 AH Lead Acid bank.

The vendor says that "they are old and some show signs of swelling".
That would worry me - a lot!!!
